About Us
South Sound Triathletes was formed in 1999. Formerly named FLATS, the club originally included multisport enthusiasts from Army Base Fort Lewis, WA. In 2003, South Sound Triathletes became a USA Triathlon registered club and today we have an annual membership of over 80 triathletes who live throughout South Puget Sound. We strive to build comeraderie among our members and support each other in our competitive goals while providing opportunities for socialization and of course, fun!
South Sound Triathletes caters to novices as well as elite-level athletes. Members have helped each other prepare for and cross the finish line of their first triathlon, as well as supported athletes as they competed in world championship races. Year round, our not-for-profit club holds weekly group bicycle rides. During the spring and summer we organize open water swimming opportunities, bicycle time trials, track workouts and group runs. During December - May, clinics and workshops are held by some of the region's most knowledgeable coaches and athletes covering topics such as: Periodized Triathlon Training, Fundamentals of Nutrition for Triathletes, Core strength and flexibility, Bicycle Fit, Swim Technique, Running shoe fit and gait analysis, Mental Training and more. See our training calendar for upcoming events and details.
